The journey of setting up of a Kokrajhar Planetarium & Science Centre started way back in 2011 with the multiple objectives of edutainment, motivations among the children and youth and over all to create a scientific society for the benefit of Bodoland Territorial Region. The project was developed by Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Assam. It was implemented by Assam Science Technology and Environment Council [ASTEC], an autonomous organ of the D.S.T., Govt. of Assam has set up this centre as the nodal agency through Public Works [Building] Department, along with technical support from the private company Infovision Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and National Council of Science Museum [NCSM], an autonomous society under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.The Kokrajhar Planetarium & Science Centre was inaugurated on 10th Feb, 2020 byformer Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, ShriSarbanandaSonowal.
